Back Bay Bistro

A couple of years ago, one of our favorite restaurants in Newport Beach, the Back Bay Bistro, opted for a whole new look, and it is splendid.  We loved it, and so did lots of others.  Read what other visitors have to say here.

The building itself looks pretty unpretentious from the parking lot at Back Bay Newport Beach.  It almost looks like an adjunct to the boat launching pad adjacent to it.

But as soon as you walk up the entryway to the Back Bay Restaurant, you get your first inkling of the restaurant itself.

Charming boats and yachts wander all over the Back Bay area, and there are windows everywhere you look.  Actually, if you walk straight ahead, there is an outdoor patio area with big white umbrellas that is a lovely spot to soak up some Orange County sunshine.

Step into the restaurant to see the sun splashed bar area that looks out over Pacific sunsets.

This is a Newport Beach restaurant that was clearly designed to enjoy the warmth of the Orange County coast.  Look closer and you will see that even the ceiling can be fully retracted, letting the sunshine literally spill in.

The expansive windows and bright light invite peeking outside, at cute Orange County Sheriff patrol boats and Newport Beach yachts.

The generous spacing between tables invites private conversations.

And the menu at this Newport Beach Bistro invites a wonderful dining experience.  In addition to the regular menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner, Saturday brunch and Sunday brunch (yes! there are both Saturday and Sunday brunches!), there is also a monthly menu featuring fresh delights of the season.

Heather and Jennifer are two of the lovely people you will meet at the Bistro.

For evening dining, romantic interludes and more special occasions, the Bistro has the elegant back room dining areas.  White napkin service is featured here, and it enjoys the same outstanding menus offered in the central dining area.
