Trish, who lives in Los Angeles, shared her favorite romantic escape - Huntington Gardens.
One of the most romantic days my Jerry and I spent was roaming
through the beautiful Huntington Gardens. There is a whole museum/
library section too. But we enjoyed the gardens most of all.
When you enter, head off to the right and wander through the rose
garden and the Japanese garden and the Palm Garden and the cactus
garden. Get a map before you start out so you can see the ones you
enjoy the most.
And wander. Don't rush. There is no hurry. Do
stop and get a bite of lunch at the little cafe. There are no
picnics, and no eating on the grounds. But you can indeed stop and
relax on the lawn and talk and talk and talk.
I guess we
spent over four hours there, and the time just flew. I had been
there before with girl friends (see the picture of my friend Janet),
but going there with Jerry was really special.

Here is Janet, captured by one of the hundreds of aromatic roses in the Rose Garden at Huntington Gardens.
The roses are all labeled, so take some time to find out if there is one named after you or your sweetie.

This is just one corner of the Rose Garden at Huntington Gardens. I was there in the late spring when everything -- everything -- was in bloom! Actually, there are gardens blooming nearly year round so there is always something wonderful to see.

The serenity of the Japanese garden is magical. Do pause for a romantic moment or two on the graceful bridge, and wander the paths through the weeping willows.
There is a good reason for not rushing through romantic Huntington Gardens. Go too fast and you will miss treasures like this lovely Golden Bowl hibiscus. Look closely and you will see a bee getting lunch.
Thanks ever so for sharing your favorite spot with us,
Kingsley
