I discovered the Emerald Iguana accidentally. I was looking for an Ojai bed and breakfast, some place where I might relax for a few days. I got several surprises. There it was -- the Emerald Iguana Fountain in the Ojai inn that bears its name. That was my first surprise. I had never connected the word "iguana" with the word "romance", but my love affair with the Emerald Iguana bed and breakfast started out right in the courtyard with this magnificent sculpture.
The surprises continued as I wandered the pathways around the Ojai inn
Gentle pathways wound around. The quiet gardens and arching trees created an arbor of solitude.

This truly was an inn of delight, an inn of surprises.
A Romantic Surprise at Emerald Iguana, the Ojai Bed and Breakfast Inn
When I arrived at my room, I was delighted. There were two of my very favorite things waiting for me: champagne and chocolates, topped off with a lovely red rose.
And more surprises found us as we wandered through the most charming village of Ojai. The fine artists, the quaint restaurants (many of them organic), the whole peaceful feeling to a very romantic weekend getaway.
We stayed a week and wished we could have stayed longer. The Emerald Iguana is such a joy to visit, such a treasure to call "home", even for a short while. I know we will be back many times.
