I love it when we can discover a super great restaurant, perhaps in an obscure place like Thousand Oaks ... a restaurant that no one has heard of before.

It is even better when we know, we just KNOW that we will be introducing this great, great restaurant to the rest of world.
Well, it is great when it happens.
But it didn't happen here.
Brent's Delicatessen & Restaurant has won every award known to the deli world, including many featured articles in major Los Angeles publications.
Our measly little Kingsley Award doesn't mean diddly to Brent's Deli.
We should have known. After all, Brent's has been around over 40 years. And they have been garnering awards all of those 40 years. (And Thousand Oaks isn't all that obscure.)
But we just had to tell you about it anyhow. Because it is so great.
Brent's Deli does everything that one would expect of a great deli.
~ It serves outstanding breakfast, lunches and dinners.
~ It caters to businesses and homes throughout the whole Southern California region.
~ It treats your taste buds to special delights with every morsel, no matter whether it is chef's salad, Chicago style frankfurter, 14 ounce New York steak, French toast, whitefish salad or kugel. (or any other of the several dozen choices)
Truthfully, there are a lot of other delis that provide all of this.
And you can't tell a deli by its menu.
No, the measure of a deli goes further than the menu.
First, there is the HOME MADE FLAVOR AND STYLE. Every single item on that extensive menu is served just like it came from a home kitchen.
And, next, THE SERVICE IS GREAT. I have paid many, many times what I paid for lunch here and not gotten a fraction of the service.
It's home. Enter the door and you are home. The meal is fresh and home cooked. The people are all friends. Ultimately, this is what makes it romantic as well. There is a warm, comfy feeling that makes everyone friends and neighbors.

From Joelle in Woodland Hills, California:
We travel a lot between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, and Brent's Deli is just the right distance for a shop over. It is an easy on/off the freeway, and we know we can always get a nice meal there, no matter what time of the day it is.
We have found, too, that the folks at Brents Deli are very friendly. After a hectic week in LA, it is such a pleasure to know that we can have a pleasant trip up the coast.
From Sue in Brentwood, California:
Did you know that Brent's started in Sherman Oaks? We've had it for 40 years longer than Thousand Oaks, and have enjoyed every minute. The "old" Sherman Oaks location is still booming -- we go at least once a week, sometimes more. You may find the waiters a bit sassier, but they are still great.
