8 Romantic Things To Do In San Diego's Seaport Village

Summary: Seaport Village in San Diego is known as a tourist shopping area, but it is actually a lot more than a collection of tourist shops.

Finding romantic moments in Seaport Village isn't difficult at all.  In fact, all it really takes is just a bit of time.  Here's what others have discovered at Seaport Village.

First, put on comfortable walking shoes. There is little public transportation in the area, although there are a lot of benches and places to relax. Then pick among eight romantic things to do in San Diego's Seaport Village:

1. Ogle the yachts and giggle over the creative names. "Dream Lover" and "Getaway" are just the beginning. This is a pleasant 10-20 minute stroll in warm sunshine.

2. Get a breakfast munchie. Sit over a cup of cappuchino or java, maybe with a muffin, and smile about the day that is beginning.

3. Visit some of the really creative shops in Seaport Village like Upstart Crow and The Village Hat Shop, whether or not you buy anything. They are just fun to browse. You might even have a fragrance designed just for you or your sweetie at Bath Junkie. There is a wonderful jewelry store, and another store featuring memorabilia from the 60�s. It is hard to NOT find several romantic things to do as you wander the shops of Seaport Village.

4. Have a picnic in Embarcadero Park. The California Poppy Table is my favorite spot. Its bright cheery colors are a perfect compliment to the blues of the bay just a few steps away, and to the bright blue sky stretching forever.

5. Go fly a kite in the park.

6. Hop a harbor cruise for an hour or two. Sit back, relax, and let the Captain tell you all about San Diego and the harbor area.

7. Take a romantic ride in the horse drawn carriage. It wanders through the Gaslamp District for a lovely ride.

8. Sit and watch the sun set, with or without a mai tai.

If all you want to do is spend money and buy cheap things, this is not the place for you. If, however, you are looking for a slow paced, enjoyable day, Seaport Village San Diego is hard to beat. I find it more an area for adults than for children. Children can play in the park and ride the carousel, but generally adults are more tuned into the slower pace of a leisurely stroll.

There is a lot more to Seaport Village than what we have listed. And it can indeed be very romantic. It is all a matter of finding your special romantic things to do in Seaport Village.
