Sometimes guests tell about places that even we missed, like La Valencia Villa in La Jolla, a part of La Valencia Hotel.
(From Janine, who lives in Los Angeles)

We just had the most wonderful romantic weekend, and we do thank you for it! I wouldn't have thought of La Valencia Hotel if I hadn't found it on your site, and the hotel was such a delight. Yes, all the lovely restaurants are there. And that hint about choosing one of the tables at the back of the lobby was splendid, so private, so romantic, with the ocean white caps capturing the glow of the moon.
And best yet, we stayed at one of the villas at La Valencia Hotel. Our cozy fireplace with its amazing ocean views was just what we wanted. It was snuggle perfect in every sense of the word.
The service was outstanding, too. There was always someone there when we wanted it, but they left us alone on our private rendezvous when we wanted that too.
My husband has a hard time starting the day without Starbucks, and we found one just down the street. There are so many interesting little shops to wander through, and the art gallery at the end of the road was so unexpectedly delightful.
All in all, La Jolla was truly wonderful, especially the villa at La Valencia. I've included a picture for you!
And Kingsley replies:
Janine, I do know what you mean! Every time we look at La Valencia Hotel we get more delightful surprises. I am so glad you enjoyed your romantic weekend getaway, and thank you for taking the time to share it with us!
And for those of you who have never seen La Jolla, yes, the sky is that blue, and the ocean can indeed be that magnificent azure color. aaaaaah.
Thanks ever so,
Kingsly
