The Santa Barbara Biltmore began as a Spanish hacienda. It was always beautiful.
But now, with Ty Warner's uncompromising vision, the resort has blossomed into a spectacular blend of sensuous luxury and modernization.
Nestled against the blue Pacific Ocean, it is wrapped in luxury.

From the moment you enter the driveway until the moment you leave, there are beautiful flowers everywhere. Everywhere. I truly love flowers, all flowers, so this felt like a touch of heaven for me.
We were there in springtime when pinks and blues and lavenders and whites were sprinkled all over. I understand that there is a veritable army of gardeners that keeps the grounds looking spectacular year round, and it really shows.
Altogether there are 20 acres of manicured gardens.

When an elegant lady like The Santa Barbara Biltmore has been around for nearly a century, she tends to gather her jewels around her, and even show them off from time to time.
And that is exactly what you will discover in every nook and cranny of The Four Seasons Biltmore Santa Barbara.
Look at the photo of the lobby seating area. Every table, every cabinet, every decorative item is a treasure of its own, collected individually and displayed here to show it off to its best advantage.
As you meander through the hallways -- and even in your very own room -- you will continue to discover these treasures. Each one is so lovely and so unique and so perfect. A tremendous amount of love and care went into the selection of these art treasures, and I felt so privileged that I was allowed to share them.

EL GALEON ROOM
This photo just doesn't do the room justice. It is structured like a wooden Spanish galleon, with curved bracings on the top, harpoons and fishing paraphernalia on the walls, and stories to tell in every plank.
This room isn't generally open because it is not handicap accessible. But if you get a chance, ask about "El Galeon Room", that fabled room of cigar smoke and all night poker played by some of the highest rollers on the California coast.
The gamblers who climbed the narrow staircase were serious. There was even a dumb waiter food lift so they could wine and dine all night under the light of the brass lamps, without being disturbed by waiters.
There is just so much to the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara.
