Wine and food festivals are very popular in Santa Barbara, with the premier event being the California Wine Festival (also called the Santa Barbara Wine Festival) slated for mid July. Santa Barbara hotels and restaurants join in the celebration, made even better because this splendid celebration benefits the Santa Barbara Food Bank.
Provence and Tuscany have nothing over Santa Barbara, the "American Riviera". Along with the breathtaking ocean views and emerald hills surrounding the whole area, along with that has evolved a wine making tradition that takes second place to none.
Wine grapes are California's number one finished agricultural product, and the Golden State exports 95% of America's wines contributing greatly to jobs, the economy and to culture, and this wine growing region is one of the most popular in the state.
Dozens and dozens of local vineyards will be there, some you may know, and some will be new, such as
... and many, many more. There is music and celebration and all kinds of foods and wines. The California Wine Festival really is a festival worth your time.
Perhaps your vacation plans just don't coincide with the Santa Barbara Wine Festival. While it is sad that you will miss it, you can still capture some of the flavors and styles of Santa Barbara, every single week. Just visit the Farmer's market on any Tuesday.
The local robust Farmer's Market is reminiscent of those in Provence and Tuscany, too. Every Tuesday along the 500 & 600 block of Old Town State Street between 4:00 and 7:30 PM a dazzling array of colorful produce, flowers, artisan breads and cheeses, and street musicians draws famed local chefs and local foodies alike.
Come and enjoy the sun, sea, music, fascinating history, outstanding natural beauty, and great food and wine; and take home the Santa Barbara State of Mind that will last a lifetime.
