I took a look recently at some of the vacation rentals that are currently available and was quite surprised at the variety and quality of the offerings, as well as the quantity. 

Let's take a look at some of the loveliest regions in Santa Cruz, California.

 Romantic Beach Vacation Rentals-Santa Cruz California

Santa Cruz enjoys lots of great beaches, some with wharfs, some with surfing, and some just great for sunning.  And the weather just couldn't be better.

Just about anything along East Cliff Drive and West Cliff Drive will be adjacent to the ocean.  Most will have ready access to a beach or two. 

Capitola is a charming little village.  There is an area called "Depot Hill" that sits a bit higher, overlooking the village, giving a spectacular view of the fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Aptos is one of the newer communities in Santa Cruz and the homes are likely to have newer features.  Opal Cliffs, Pleasure Point, Twin Lakes and Soquel are the older villages.  Soquel is especially quaint, with charming antique shops and a village church right out of a Norman Rockwell painting.

Look especially for places that have a patio or balcony with an ocean view -- that is where you will spend most of your "home" time.  A bedroom with an ocean view doesn't do a whole lot of good because you will be sleeping (errr, "resting") most of the time.

Then look for places that are near what you want to be near.  Santa Cruz is a small-ish town, so nothing is too far away.  But if you hate to drive, find out specifically what is within walking distance.

The hills surrounding Santa Cruz burst with beautiful woodsy vacation rentals.  The redwoods and other pine trees and flowers create a green-drenched world unlike anywhere else on earth.  (No, I am not prejudiced toward Santa Cruz!  lol)

There is a tiny two lane road leading into the "mountain towns" of Felton and Boulder Creek.  The road is lined with little antique shops, with an occasional restaurant.  For the most part, houses are hard to find, creating a very secluded environment.

If you prefer being a bit closer to civilization, look at vacation rentals Santa Cruz California, especially in the hills of Aptos, a very lovely, rustic area just south of Santa Cruz.
